When a candidate successfully starts a test, we count it as a Test Attempt. For example, if 30 candidates each attempt 2 quizzes, the total number of Test Attempts is 30 x 2 = 60.
Our pricing doesn't depend on how many candidates you have or how many quizzes you create — only on the total number of attempts. Our Pricing Calculator helps you estimate the cost.
A credit is AutoProctor's internal currency. When you pay for a subscription, you receive credits. As candidates attempt tests, credits are deducted from your account.
Most customers use standard proctoring settings. In this case, 1 Test Attempt = 1 Credit. If you enable Enhanced Proctoring features, each attempt costs more credits (see the Enhanced Proctoring section below).
Standard Proctoring is what every proctored test includes by default. It uses three data feeds — camera, microphone and screen share — to monitor candidates in real time.
AutoProctor detects and records evidence of:
• Background noise (e.g. someone talking nearby)
• No face or multiple faces on camera
• Tab or window switches
• Multi-monitor setups
• Full-screen enforcement violations
It also captures random photos at intervals and a face photo at the start of each test. For a full list of features Standard Proctoring covers, see this article.
A timer-only test has no proctoring enabled — you can only set a test duration, a time window, etc. Timer-only tests don't use any credits.
A proctored test has proctoring enabled (optionally with a timer too). Each proctored attempt uses credits.
To use AutoProctor, you subscribe to a monthly, quarterly, or annual plan. You pay a fixed price for each period and receive a set number of credits. For example, on our Standard monthly plan, you get 150 credits each month.
If you need more credits than what's included, you can buy extra (we call this topping up).
It depends on your needs! Each plan on this page lists the features it includes — click the Info links to learn what each feature means.
The higher the plan, the more features you get. If you have a team of multiple users, go with the Premium or Elite plan. If you need advanced features like Question Banks or API access, choose the Elite Plan.
Yes! Click here to start a free trial of the Premium Plan with 10 free credits. You can use them for timer-only or proctored tests.
These free credits never expire. Once you've used them up and are happy with AutoProctor, you can subscribe to a plan.
When you subscribe, we automatically charge your card at the start of each payment period. For example, a monthly subscription charges your card every month.
Depending on your country and card settings, this may happen automatically or you may need to approve each payment.
If the first automatic payment attempt fails, we try two more times. If all three attempts fail, your subscription is cancelled.
You'll receive an email from Stripe (our payment provider) each time a payment fails. Please follow the instructions in that email to fix the issue.
A subscription can be cancelled by you, or automatically if renewal payments fail (as described above). When a subscription is cancelled, your credit balance resets to 0.
For example, if you had 1,000 credits and your subscription was cancelled due to failed payments, your balance becomes 0. If you later reactivate, you start fresh.
We never delete your tests or results — but you'll have limited access to results without an active subscription.
No. When you cancel, the cancellation takes effect at the end of your current payment period, not immediately.
For example: you subscribe on 14th March and cancel on 18th March. You can still use AutoProctor until 13th April. We simply won't charge you on 14th April. You always get the full period you've paid for.
We accept card payments: Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and others. Our payment provider is Stripe.
We don't accept PayPal, UPI, or bank transfers. Most credit cards that support recurring payments will work. Debit cards also work in some countries. The easiest way to check is to try it.
Yes! You save by choosing longer plans — Quarterly and Annual subscriptions cost less per month than Monthly plans.
We also offer bulk discounts when you buy extra credits (top-ups). Check our Pricing Calculator for the Discounts chart.
You can buy extra credits anytime — we call this topping up. The cost is for 150 credits.
For example, if you need to assess 600 candidates: subscribe to get 150 credits with your plan, then top up 450 more. Use our Pricing Calculator to see the exact cost.
Upgrading means switching to a higher plan (e.g. Standard → Premium) to unlock more features. You can also upgrade your billing frequency (e.g. monthly → quarterly).
Topping up means buying extra credits without changing your plan. For example, if you have 150 credits and need 300 more, you top up 300 credits.
No, unused credits roll over to the next payment period — as long as your subscription is active.
For example: you have 250 credits on 1st February. Your monthly subscription renews on 2nd February and adds 150 credits. Your new balance is 250 + 150 = 400 credits.
No! You can subscribe and schedule the cancellation on the same day. Your account stays active for the full payment period (e.g. 1 month). Cancelling is super easy — just click a link in your dashboard.
If you need AutoProctor again later, just reactivate your subscription. All your tests and results will still be there.
We don't offer pay-as-you-go billing. However, because unused credits roll over (see Q3.3), you can simply buy a large number of credits and use them over time.
Some customers subscribe to a yearly plan, buy credits in bulk, and don't worry about billing for the entire year. Any leftover credits carry over when the subscription renews.
The subscription process is the same. The key difference is that timer-only tests don't use any credits. So with an active subscription, you can run unlimited timer-only tests.
These are advanced anti-cheating features that go beyond standard proctoring:
1. ID Card Verification — AI matches the candidate's registered name and face to their ID card photo.
2. Impersonation Detection — Detects if someone other than the registered candidate attempts the test.
3. Auxiliary Device / Detect ChatGPT — Candidate pairs their phone to their laptop for 360-degree coverage, helping detect AI usage.
4. Session Recording — Records screen activity, mouse clicks, and keyboard typing during the test.
Yes. A standard proctored attempt uses 1 credit. Each Enhanced Proctoring feature you enable adds 4 extra credits per attempt.
For example, if you enable ID Card Verification, each attempt costs 1 + 4 = 5 credits.
Bundle discount: Enable all 4 features together and pay only 12 extra credits instead of 16 — a 25% saving. So each attempt would cost 1 + 12 = 13 credits.
Use our Pricing Calculator to estimate your costs.
Yes — these features are included in all plans (Standard, Premium, and Elite) and can be enabled from the settings of each test.
You need an active subscription to use Enhanced Proctoring. You cannot use it with the free trial credits. To see how the enhanced proctoring features work without a subscription, you may attempt demo tests on the feature pages.
It depends, of course! For example, in some cases, there may be governmental regulations for ID card verification. In other cases, you may be concerned that your candidates are well-versed with technology and may use AI tools. For context, 90% of our customers use only Standard Proctoring.
